Welcome to Our NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION
GUINEAN ASSOCIATION FOR PROGRESS MISSION STATMENT
The Guinean Association for Progress (GAP) was established to address the growing need for a supportive and inclusive community among Guinean youth in the Greater Philadelphia area. Recognizing the challenges of maintaining cultural identity while adapting to life in a new environment, the founding members envisioned an organization that would foster unity, provide a platform for collaboration, and uplift the well-being of its members. GAP was created as a space where individuals could come together to celebrate their shared heritage, while also working towards the betterment of their community through social, cultural, and developmental initiatives. Its mission extends beyond social connection, emphasizing the importance of mutual support, empowerment, and collective progress to build a stronger and more connected Guinean diaspora.

Current Project

Guinean Association for Progress has been selected as a member of the Black Immigrant Capacity Building Committee (BICBC), an initiative of the Office of Immigrant Affairs and it’s Mayor’s Commission on African and Caribbean Immigrant Affairs. Guinean Association for Progress will work in partnership with the Philadelphia City Fund and the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) to participate on the BICBP advisory committee, strengthening local Black immigrant-led organizations, both through network collaboration and monetary grants. This committee aims to increase the capacity of these organizations and bolster the capabilities of future Black Immigrant-led organizations in Philadelphia.
